Waysides Along The Journey is a collection of free verse prose written by Wayne O'Conner. Some poems have a definite Christian flavor, while others do not.
AUTHOR'S INVITATION
Life is like a series of waysides along a journey. Each wayside may be an adventure or merely a contemplative place of rest. All of the waysides in tandem form a series of exhibits in the museum displays of our life. Every wayside a roadside historical marker, an oil painting, a three dimensional model, a granite statue, a coffee stained document, or a crisp digital photo that is eternally saved on God's hard drive. Literally a series of mysterious journeys all summed up and saved for posterity.
You may find my wayside exhibits to be aesthetically appealing or not. Perhaps they may bring back a faded memory from the snap shots of your own life. Prepare to be reacquainted with the wispy evocations of forgotten sensory images, like the wet sweet taste of sparkling Welsh honey cider, the rough texture of a rock crafted wishing well, the trilling of exotic birds or the lovely scent of fresh lavender lilacs from grandpa’s farm. Other displays, good, bad, or ugly will compellingly touch your heart and soul before becoming indelibly etched into the very fabric of your own existence, creating an exhibit in the personal wayside of your life.
Certain exhibits may help you come to grips with challenges of life like forgiveness, fear of rejection, unrequited love, romance, unconditional love, maturity, loneliness, and anger or answer spiritual questions. Others may allow you to escape, for a short while, from the sadness or boredom, that is common place, from time to time, in everyone’s life.
Without further ado, let the wayside adventures begin.
