New Office Photos

New Office Arrangement

While putting together a slide show for Diane’s Celebration of Life, I took pictures of the new office area.  Same office, but new arrangement of desks, inventory and assembly tables.

A few months ago, since postal regs changed, we had to switch to sending packets of individual books, rather than combining two or three books, to get the most economical mailing price. At that time, I also changed from a pre-package format to an on-demand method of packing which eliminated a few racks of pre-kits from the inventory room that had contained pre-packaged small boxes and medium and large IPMs of mixed sets and Bibles Only boxes.

I also removed two four-foot tables from along the middle of the assembly room where the pre-packaged 6 x 9 mailing packages of two to three of David’s books were kept in green Dollar Store baskets. I was able to use a snip and sketch app on my desk top computer to grab a photo of those baskets from a video presentation of the office and shipping preparation, that I had made shortly after moving into this house, after leaving the storefront four years ago.

Where there is now plenty of room for me to zip around in my office chair, before there were just narrow trails. As I moved back from my desk computer to grab the prepackaged 6 x 9 envelops, of David’s books, I was constantly snagging my chair or accidently moving the tables!  Plus, I couldn’t roll my chair around the 6 x 9 assembly table to the South Wall Box Assembly Table or into the inventory room.  So now, the single packet and boxing assembly is all done at the same tables. I really like the new set up!

That’s a photo, on my screensaver, of Diane and Shirley at their birthday party on October first, 2021. They were sisters.

The wooden rack to the right of my monitor has pre-inked stamps that I use when making the hard copies of book requests. For example, if someone orders a set of David’s books, I use the BOXED SET stamp on the stack of white copy paper to the right of the stamp rack to stamp the order info. Then I print out a label to put next to the order type (Boxed Set) and then I put two labels of the requestors address on the copy paper. One label to use on the box that I will mail out and the other to attach that label to my hard copy.  If my hard copy falls on the floor, like happened in this picture, I don’t lose the label.  The errant hardcopy is behind my chair nestled under the heating vent. Can you find it? Or if someone orders, for example, a Thy Kingdom Come book, I use the TKC ink stamp.

BELOW LEFT IS THE WEST ASSEMBLY TABLE AND ASSISTANT DESK WITH THE MOBILE LAPTOP COMPUTER (THE WHOLE LAPTOP IS VISIBLE IN THE ORIGINAL PICTURE)

JUST TO THE RIGHT OF THE LAPTOP COMPUTER DESK IS THE ENTRANCE INTO THE INVENTORY ROOM AND EMPLOYEE SODA FRIDGE AND SNACK CABINET. The stack of postage totes on the small black shelf positioned to take the mailing packages as I finish them.  The top is for pre-stamped nonmachinable 5 x 7 envelopes.  The middle postal tote is for foreign parcel mailing.  The bottom white postal tote is for domestic media mail.  I keep the small brown set boxes and medium and large International Priority Mail book orders, as I assemble them, wherever I can find room!

INVENTORY AREA PASSED THE SNACK AREA. INVENTORY IS LOW AT THE MOMENT.  THE LAST TIME WE WENT TO THE WAREHOUSE THE ELEVATORS WERE NOT WORKING. I HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO GET BACK TO EAU CLAIR TO PICK UP MORE CASES OF DAVID’S BOOKS.

MAYBE NEXT WEEK!
