Blessing Question

One of David Dyer’s frequent casual distributors, a local Bibler teacher from Africa, emailed me a question recently. I decided to share the exchange.

What does it mean by the blessings of God?

My best guess, Robert, is that blessing is provision, protection, answers to prayer and divine favor and may include assistance in gaining maturity or correction for our improvement.

Further comments written for my blog:

Protection, provision and answers to prayer seem like an obvious answer. Helping us mature, whether we resist or eagerly go along with the program, is something most of us take it for granted. Who likes discipline?  Children potently dislike the discipline of our parents at the time. Unless that punishment was overly emotional and unjust, we appreciate their efforts when we become adults, especially after we begin raising our own children.

Hebrews 12:11

“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

King James Version (KJV)
