SLOWLY I RUN MY HANDS

OVER THE ROUGH,

YEARS UNPAINTED

WEATHERED GATE.

PAUSING I SQUARE MY SHOULDERS,

THEN BREATHE DEEPLY,

INHALING THE HEADY AROMA

OF HAY, SILAGE & MANURE,

RELIVING A FLOOD OF MEMORIES

AS THE OLFACTORIAL FOG

AGGRESSIVELY SWELLS & EXPANDS,

DISPENSED BY THE WINDS

TO OTHER NOSES

LESS APPRECIATIVE THAN MINE.

ONE LAST LINGERING MOMENT

BEFORE DEPARTING

MY BOYHOOD HOME

I ATTEND THE CAMPESTRAL OPERA
