When You are Finished with Your Little Rescue Mission, Come Find Me! (Dream)
When You are Finished with your Little Rescue Mission, Come Find Me!
Friendship Tower Chronicles # 11.
I woke up from this dream about 9:15 AM (7.26.2017). It was another dream linked to the Friendship Tower Chronicles, but it was shorter and less detailed. I did not think very much in this dream either.
The dream started with me sitting in a house that looked like that of a farmhouse in New Auburn, where my maternal Aunt, Inez and her husband Herman had resided when they were still alive. I was partially talking with some of the family in the living room, working at a laptop computer, and looking out into where the kitchen and dining room had once been
The living room was just a social room, at this time, and had a circle of chairs in the center. The couch and corner TV were gone. The kitchen was a TV room with a small dining nook.
Some of the family were snacking and watching the TV while others were in the social room chatting around me. There were three tall, attractive blond girls that seemed to be very noticeable to me. One girl in the group mentioned that the other was interested in having a relationship with me. I looked up from my computer and replied, “I certainly don’t mind the attention from her, cousin, but I am under certain rules. If she really is interested, she will have to make the moves; I am not allowed to do so. More than that, the Lord will have to confirm her as a Friendship Tower Girl.”
An older gentleman offered, “We have three girls here who would make good Friendship Tower Girls. Why don’t we have a singing contest and you may pick one of them as a new Friendship Tower Girl.” He added, “Any of you girls want to be part of this? If so, sing a line of lyrics.”
Three of them, all tall blond girls laughed and sang a section of lyrics. The girl who was supposedly my cousin smirked and said, “I told you so!”
The old man said, “Why don’t you go downstairs and sing on the church platform. The acoustics are really good there I have heard.”
I replied, “I’m fine with that as long as I can sing some of my songs, too. However, my songs are at my house. I need to get them. It won’t take long if I drive there. So, I’ll need my car keys back, and directions to where you had it parked.”
The first girl who had said she had wanted to sing interjected, “My songs are at home, too. I don’t live that far away either, by car.”
The old man said, “I don’t have the keys. The pastor’s son parked them for you, and you’ll have to go to the church and get them.”
We took a mechanical elevator down. Rusty grease-smeared chains jangled and clanked, at the center of the device as we descended. It was in the small room under the stairs that had once been a storage closet for Uncle Herman and Aunt Inez’s living room.
When we emerged in the church, we found that it was a giant junk room. Two of the girls who had come with us, chorused in unison, “EWWW! It stinks! I’m getting out of here!” Immediately they found the exit and left.
The girl who had said she had to go get her song books said, “The platform looks cleaner than where we are standing. I am still willing to meet you back here and sing some songs if you are still O.K. with that.”
I was about to say that I agreed, when an irritated voice asked, “What are you doing here? May I help you?”
I said, “The gentleman upstairs said that we could use the platform to come down here and sing some songs.”
The man, dressed in a suit coat and tie said, “I shut the church down and started a job selling encyclopedias and educational software.” He paused, shook his head in disbelief, and continued, “Knock yourself out. I have to go work. See yourself out when you are finished.”
I looked around again. The pews had been shoved to one side of the sanctuary. There was a dining room table, heaped with old TV dinners and dirty dishes. An easy chair sat adjacent to an old couch, that was covered with rumpled blankets dirty clothes.
“Wait! Your son parked my car and still has my keys. Hers, too.” I realized that I didn’t even know my singing partner’s name.
“Yes, I need to drive home and get my song materials,” she added.
The ex-preacher thundered his son’s name. A chubby little dark-haired boy, wearing a black suit coat top, soiled white button-down shirt, bow tie, and knee pants, came waddling in from out of nowhere and asked, “Yes, Dad?” Then he saw me and scowled.
“Son, this man just told me that you parked his car and this lady’s car, too. Where did you park them and where are the keys?”
Junior looked at me again and scowled, “I ain’t sayin’!” He took off as fast as his chubby little legs would take him. He made it out the door with all of us running after him. His dad caught up to him not too far out of the church doors, when he tripped onto a pile of leaves, just ahead of the sidewalk.
I looked around. It resembled Banbury Place in Eau Claire, except that the buildings were only one story tall and made up of little houses and outbuildings.
The ex-preacher pulled a little baton out of his pocket and whacked the chubby boy on the buttocks. The little boy yelled, “I ain’t sayin’!” He was whacked harder. After he had yelped, again, he repeated, “I ain’t sayin’! I don’t care how much you whoop me!”
“Give me those keys, boy! Right now!” The boy snickered and tossed a handful of keys down a nearby storm drain.
The ex-minister looked up at me and said, “I don’t know what to say. I am sorry. I don’t understand why my son is acting like this!”
“I saw him upstairs watching a movie. I know exactly why he’s doing this. He heard me talk about the Friendship Tower Girls. And some girls there said they were interested in becoming one; he got jealous, and he got mad!”
The ex-pastor looked at me like I was from off-planet. Junior suddenly took off running and vanished in a nearby alley!
“I have a spare key in my wallet. If I can find my car, I’ll take both of us home.” I groaned, “Great! Just great! The girl fainted!”
It was only then that I noticed that she was wearing white shorts and a white sleeveless fuzzy pullover shirt that sparkled. I picked her up and carried her on my shoulder.
The ex-pastor said, “Sorry. I’ve got to go. Your car has to be around here somewhere.”
I went walking around, peeking in garages, driveways, parking lots and outbuildings trying to find my car. I don’t know how long I looked. I stopped and was looking around for a place to set down the girl, who was still passed out over my shoulder.
Suddenly the Princess, from the Caretaker of the Friendship Tower Dream, walked up to me and put her hand on my free shoulder. Except that she was dressed differently, and wearing lipstick, she looked exactly like the Princess from the dream. She was wearing a white blouse, and dark dress slacks, that had the same pattern as the polo shirt I had bought yesterday at Walmart. Black with little white dots and short white diagonal lines. (In real-life I bought the shirt yesterday at Walmart!). She looked into my eyes and said, “I have always wanted to do this!” Then she kissed me full on the lips. She scowled and whispered sarcastically, “When you are finished with your little rescue mission, come find me!”
I woke up. End of dream.
