Of Christians and Cryptoids (KL2 Version)
From my book Kingdom Lessons Two
Deuteronomy 32:17 They sacrificed to demons who were not God, to gods whom they did not know, new ones who came lately. Your fathers had not dreaded them.
You have heard, I am sure, of food being left at shrines in the jungles, whether in the Hawaiian Islands, the Caribbean or the Orient. J.C. Johnson, a cryptozoologist
(Cryptozoology (from Greek κρυπτός, kryptos, “hidden” + zoology; literally, “study of hidden animals”))
with a Christian world view, mentioned on a Coast to Coast interview that people who leave food for creatures of mystery, of which bigfoot is only one type, end up regretting it. He gave an example of a man who would buy day-old bakery goods, and also others without dogs, buying fifty pound sacks of dogfood, only to have their property violated if they forgot to make their offering. J.C. was not referring to people in third world countries, but contemporary U.S. citizens! See https://youtu.be/epWJNRrFFQQ “South West Cryptids” with J. C. Johnson.
While such studies are often relegated to the realm of “pseudo-science” as opined by Wiki, the evidence is mounting. Only those who wish to remain in total denial, in spite of the facts, can continue to believe that such humanoids do not exist. While researchers may not be in total agreement about whether bigfoot is merely an ape or a human hybrid of some type or if it has metaphysical abilities, it is much harder to maintain that it is a totally mythical creature. See https://youtu.be/C3bOBi1-Zes “Sasquatch Genome Project Press Conference”.
Many readers may think that such creatures, from fairies to sasquatch to dog men, are all myth and legend. Any given legend may be fanciful, but if you study many such legends, you may come to find that they indeed have a basis in reality. On one side of the coin, too many Christians do not believe in a supernatural world. Paul writes that we wrestle against principalities and powers. Just as there are fallen angels and demons that work for the dark kingdom, there are mystical creatures mentioned in the Bible. Isaiah 13:21 records Satyrs. 2nd Samuel 23:20 records “lion-like men”. Job writes about Leviathan. Isaiah 34 records that dragons are real. Isaiah 14 writes about cockatrices and flying serpents.
While some instances may be purely allegorical, I believe that it is a great mistake to rationalize away all such scripture in that manner. Other Christians may focus too much on such things and open dangerous doorways.
Recently I read a great book by the researcher Stephen Quayle entitled, Little Creatures: The Gates of Hell are Opening. In his introduction, Stephen Quayle wrote, “Many readers may be surprised to learn that, until the last hundred years, a large segment of the world’s population, including a large percentage of those in Western nations, believed not just in the supernatural, but specifically in real beings like elves, fairies, gnomes, and the like.”
See https://youtu.be/ugxSi4mrVJI : “A Tiny Creature was caught on Camera!” This short YouTube video, shows a mystical creature, much like the changeling creature found on page 189 of Little Creatures, painted by artist Duncan Long, who provided many such illustrations for Stephen Quayle’s book. Justen Faull, in an interview with guest J. C. Johnson, entitled “Cryptid Hybrids: As it was in the Days of Noah”, mentioned this short video and firmly maintained, based on his college degree in film studies, that the video was not photo-shopped.
My expectation is that with the onslaught of occultism, and such themes being fed to us by Hollywood, the floodgates will open wide. Where such things could be expected in third world countries, the likelihood was far less in civilized modern countries, such as the USA. I do not think that many in Christian circles realize just how much we have been protected. As the Lord’s hand lifts, I believe that such activity will increase dramatically.
There have been many legends over the years that have been passed on orally or in written form. Upon reading the book, American Monsters, by Linda S. Godfrey, I was surprised to read that Wisconsin has many old legends about dog men, bigfoot, gargoyles, flying dinosaurs and giant thunder birds. Being a Wisconsinite, I found this quite interesting. Granted, some of this will be exaggeration and misinformation, but not all of it.
Recently I read an excerpt from page 207 of Godfrey’s book in the chapter entitled, “The Van Meter Visitor”, at a home fellowship, and reminded those attending that, as Christians, we need to be in prayer for protection and insight in battling such demonic activity. I am privileged to know a few First Nation acquaintances, and I have heard them say that merely talking about such creatures tends to bring them back. Having worked with deliverance ministries, I know the reality of the demonic realm. I also believe, as we enter progressively into the End Times, those dark forces will be revving up!
We, as Christians, need to gear up as well! First, we need to have faith in Jesus and pray for protection. Second, we need to spend time studying the scripture, and asking Jesus to help us walk in holiness before Him. Third, we need to pray for help in closing doors where we have opened dark portals, which have given the enemy opportunity. We get them closed by the blood of Jesus!
We also need to remember that not all strange creatures are demonic. While I do believe fallen angel mischief, whether as lust or dark science, was going on before the flood of Noah and genetic experimentation and is also going on presently in numerous laboratories, hidden and not-so-hidden, there are creatures that are rare, but in existence, that are just God’s handiwork. Batfish and egg-laying mammals, such as the platypus, are prime examples.
Also keep in mind, that while certain dinosaurs may have been the result of demonical tinkering, in general, dinosaurs merely display the magnificent creative ability of God. Especially in pre-flood times, life-spans were much longer. Reptiles and amphibians tend to keep growing, up until just before they die. If a turtle can grow to be over one thousand pounds in one hundred years, as is the case for one on display in a Welsh museum, how large would a thousand-year-old turtle get? How about a thousand-year-old snake, monitor lizard, komodo dragon or alligator? Could such a reptile or amphibian be a dinosaur? Yes! While I think climate changes may make them much smaller today, such creatures most likely exist in modernity, but are probably rare, and for the most part, stay in remote places, whether such as a dense African or South American jungle, a Polynesian island, or in the mountains and deserts of America.
